Obesity is a problem

Obesity is a growing problem in the U.S. Obesity occurs due to a variety of factors including genetics, lack of physical activity, and consumption of an abundance of foods high in fat. In order to decrease the amount of obesity in the U.S., we have to inform people of the problem and provide support for them. In order to decrease the amount of obesity in the U.S., we have to inform people of the problem and provide support for them.
A practical solution to the problem would be to hold seminars at schools to inform children of ways they can make healthier choices while young. Therefore, the children may present what they learn to their parents and the whole family can be involved in taking better care of their health. To research this problem we should look up the reasons as to why people choose not to take care of their health. That way we will be able to understand the reasons for their choices. A media solution would be to present commercials. Similar to tobacco commercials, we can hold junk food commercials as a way of influencing people to eat an apple rather than french fries.

Challenge Check In #2:The Memo

Challenge Check In #2
So far for my challenge, I read the article on The Princess and the Frog. The story was completely different from the movie. The story involved the princess playing with a golden ball, a frog that wanted to be involved in her life from the beginning, and the prince's servant actually liked his master. Next week I will refresh my memory with the actual movie.

Challenge Check in #1

Challenge Check in#1
The challenge that I plan to work on in the coming weeks is the Dark Disney Challenge. The fairy tale that I will reacquaint myself with is The Princess and the Frog. For the first week, I will plan to read the article, the following week I will watch the movie, and in the final week I will write the paper. I would like to complete a Gothic Challenge on this movie not only because I loved the movie but I do remember there being voodoo performed in the movie and voodoo is something that I would consider as Gothic.

Where is the Love?

The song, “Where is the Love” released in 2003 by Black Eyed Peas, sings of something that is of extreme importance to me, love. Throughout the song, the artists are constantly questioning why the world is filled with so much hatred. It brings up issues such as terrorism, racism, and wars that may have led to or resulted from the lack of love in the world. The singers even advise listeners to meditate on love and let that control them as opposed to letting hatred control them. As the song moves closer to the end, one Black Eyed Pea specifically describes how people behave; he describes how people are selfish, only care for money, and are being misled by the media. He proceeds to state that “instead of spreading love we’re spreading animosity.” The part that I thought stood out in the song occurred in the end when the singers chanted “We only got one world, one world” repeatedly. I thought this was a strong way to end the song and liked how it reminds the listeners to incite to love because we are living in one world. I feel like this song sends a strong and meaningful message to people. I find it to be very different from most of the songs that are played nowadays that mention getting drunk, strip clubs, and one night stands. I believe that “Where is the Love” is a beautiful song and advise everyone to listen to it.

The Pressures of Physiology

I walk to Physiology lab feeling pumped up as I knew that we would learn how to take blood pressure. I felt like that day had been the moment I had been waiting for all my life. I reminisced about the time when the nurse had asked for my arm and wrapped the cuff around it. I bust through the doors only to hear the teacher say, “I will teach the lecture notes on blood pressure, then present a video, and we will practice taking each other’s blood pressure at the end of the lab. “No!” I thought to myself. I want to take blood pressure now. While I sit in my seat I cannot keep myself from fidgeting around. Barely paying attention to the lecture notes, I decided to sleep. Finally, I woke up, only to hear that we are watching a video. Instead of watching the video for instruction, my arrogant self goes back to sleep. Then the time that I had been waiting for arrives. Of course I get irritated again as my partner decides take my pressure first. Soon I was my turn. While holding the blood pressure cuff, sphygmomanometer, and stethoscope I had felt a wave of confusion. How do I put the cuff on? How do I attach the sphygmomanometer? When do I stop pumping? When do I release the dial? How do I know what numbers to choose? Is this the sound of your pulse? Not feeling so pumped up anymore, I said to myself, “I guess I should have paid attention.”
